Why Does El Paso Water Require This Test?
Your property's water system operates under pressure. However, if there is a sudden drop in city water pressure (like a water main break or fire hydrants being opened), the flow of water can actually reverse. This is called "back-siphonage."
Without a functioning backflow preventer, stagnant irrigation water, lawn fertilizers, or industrial chemicals could be sucked backward into the public drinking water supply. El Paso Water legally requires an annual test to verify that the internal springs and check valves in your assembly are strong enough to snap shut and prevent this contamination.
Don't risk a water shutoff. Triad Plumbing employs licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Testers (BPAT). We will perform the test quickly, attach your passing tag, and handle all the bureaucratic filing so you don't have to.
Backflow Testing FAQs
What happens if I don't get my backflow preventer tested?
If you fail to test and certify your backflow preventer annually after receiving a notice, El Paso Water will eventually shut off the water service to your property to protect the municipal water supply from potential cross-contamination.
How much does a backflow test cost in El Paso?
At Triad Plumbing, we charge a flat rate of $229 for standard backflow testing. This includes the physical test by a certified technician, attaching the compliance tag, and filing the official paperwork directly with the city.
What happens if my backflow preventer fails the test?
Backflow valves often fail due to internal rubber gaskets deteriorating from El Paso's hard water. If your assembly fails, we can usually repair it on the spot. We carry manufacturer rebuild kits on our trucks. Once repaired, we re-test the unit and certify it so you remain compliant without delay.
