How El Paso's Water Destroys Faucet Internals
The city of El Paso features an exceptionally high concentration of dissolved calcium and magnesium minerals in its municipal water grid. When water sits inside a faucet assembly or valve chamber, these minerals solidify out of solution, forming a rock-hard layer of white scale build-up.
This mineral scaling acts like sandpaper on the rubber seals, plastic gaskets, and precision ceramic disks inside modern faucet cartridges. Over time, the tracking channels score, causing water to bypass the shutoff mechanism and drip continually out of the mouth or seep down through the handle base onto your wood cabinetry.
When replacing a faucet, the largest trap is the old shutoff valve beneath the cabinet. Trying to close an old, frozen multi-turn compression valve frequently ruptures the ancient internal packing. Triad Plumbing maps the full integrity of your localized supply setup to ensure your upgrade remains sound for years.
Fixture Installation FAQs
Do you supply the faucets or do I buy them?
Our baseline pricing model is built around labor-only installation. Since faucets are high-visibility design features, most clients prefer to purchase their own fixture from a design catalog or home retail warehouse. We then arrive with specialized basin wrenches, commercial thread sealants, and supply infrastructure to perform a flawless layout installation.
Why do my under-sink shutoff valves look corroded?
That green or white crust on your copper connections or valve threading is chemical oxidation fueled by minor microscopic leaks or vapor transfer. If these valves are older multi-turn styles, they will likely fail or fail to close during a fixture swap. We replace these with high-durability, quarter-turn solid brass ball valves for $195 a pair.
