Why Gas Line Work Requires a Master Plumber
Natural gas is highly combustible. An improperly tightened fitting or an incorrectly sized pipe doesn't just mean your stove won't work well—it poses a severe explosion and carbon monoxide hazard to your family.
Because of this, the City of El Paso requires strict permitting for gas line alterations. If Texas Gas Service detects a leak and locks your meter, they will absolutely not turn it back on until a licensed Master Plumber has repaired the line, pressurized the system with an air gauge, and had a city inspector sign off on the safety of the work.
Triad Plumbing Systems LLC handles the red tape. We perform the rigorous pressure tests, pull the necessary permits, and ensure your home is 100% safe before gas is reintroduced to the lines.
Gas Line FAQs
What should I do if I smell gas in my home?
If you smell a strong odor of rotten eggs (mercaptan), evacuate the premises immediately. Do not turn on any light switches, appliances, or use your cell phone inside, as a spark can ignite the gas. Once safely outside, call 911 or Texas Gas Service to shut off the main meter. Only after the area is secure should you call Triad Plumbing to locate and repair the leak.
Do I need a permit to install a new gas line?
Yes. In El Paso, altering, extending, or installing a new natural gas line requires a permit and must be performed by a licensed Texas Master Plumber. The city must inspect and pressure-test the line before Texas Gas Service will turn the meter back on.
Can you run a gas line for my new outdoor grill?
Absolutely. We specialize in safely trenching and routing new underground gas lines to outdoor patios for BBQ grills, fire pits, and pool heaters. We calculate the exact BTU demand of your new appliances to ensure the pipe is sized correctly so everything burns hot and efficiently.
